EL PASO, TEXAS – Andy Morgan (play-by-play) and Trevor Vittatoe (analyst) will call the action for five UTEP football games on ESPN3 and ESPN+ this fall.
Morgan and Vittatoe will be at the mic for the Miners’ games versus Northern Arizona (Sept. 1/ESPN3), NM State (Sept. 22/ESPN3), UAB (Oct. 27/ESPN+), Middle Tennessee (Nov. 10/ESPN+) and Southern Miss (Nov. 24/ESPN+).
An EMMY-nominated TV and radio sports anchor, Morgan has served as Sports Director at KTSM NewsChannel 9 since March after spending two years as a sports reporter and anchor with the station. Morgan previously was a sports reporter and anchor at KOB-TV in Albuquerque from 2014-16. He played football at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo. and did play-by-play work at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo., as well as at several high schools in Colorado.
“It’s a whole new era for UTEP Football and that includes on the broadcast side of things,” Morgan said. “I’m excited to be doing play-by-play for ESPN. It’s something I’ve always had an interest in, and was able to do in the early part of my career. I can’t wait to get back into it.”
Vittatoe played quarterback at UTEP from 2007-10 and holds school records for total offense (12,291 yards), passing yards (12,439) and touchdown passes (97). He ranks second in school history in 300-yard passing games (14). Vittatoe threw for a school-record 517 yards against Marshall on Nov. 28, 2009 in the Sun Bowl. He spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons with the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts, respectively, and currently serves as a Medical Sales Rep with DePuy Synthes Trauma Division.
“I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity to play football and get an education here,” Vittatoe said. “And now being able to support the team in a different way, and help show the rest of the country what UTEP is about and the type of team we’re going to be moving forward, is exciting.”
The Miners’ practices are underway in Ruidoso, N.M. and they’ll open the season at home versus Northern Arizona on Sept. 1. UTEP season tickets, starting at just $66, are on sale now by calling 747-6150.
