Albertsons Fan Fest Highlights UTEP Football Opener

EL PASO, TEXAS – The UTEP football team kicks off the 2018 season on Saturday, Sept. 1 against Northern Arizona in the Sun Bowl, and fans can get in the gameday mood by visiting the new, free Albertsons Fan Fest.

The Albertsons Fan Fest, located next to Memorial Gym off Glory Road and Randolph Drive, will be open from 2-5 p.m. The Fan Fest will feature a craft beer festival with free 4 oz. samples (Deep Ellum Brewery Dallas Blonde) while supplies last. Fans can also purchase a 12 oz. cup for $8.

Participating food trucks include Ay Cocula, Heavy D, Off the Grill, Panini Bus, Sabor Mexicano, Thai Grub and Untamed Chef. The trucks will not only sell food, but participate in a competition for Best Tailgate Food-Chicken. The first 50 Miner Savings Rewards members on site can sample the food and vote in the competition. The Family Fun Zone will feature numerous activities including a jumping balloon, 60-foot obstacle, two-lane slide, sports double jumper, human foosball, inflatable zipline and a rock mountain. Music will be played by DJ Jason Craig.

Civil service branches will provide static displays.

In addition, the first 2,500 fans through the stadium gates will receive a free UTEP football schedule cup. FirstLight Federal Credit Union first down cards and Chevy Bam Bam sticks will also be available to fans. The halftime show will feature performances by the top youth cheer and dance teams in El Paso on “Spirit Night.”

The Fan Fest will be open for the Northern Arizona game only.
