Piece by piece, Rodney Terry is putting together his first recruiting class, adding a rim protector to UTEP’s roster in the form of Kaosi Ezeagu who gave UTEP a verbal commit today choosing UTEP over Western Michigan, and South Carolina.
The 6’10, 230 pound big man who was born in the Bahamas, and is a Canadian citizen was offered by South Carolina and was still being recruited there. He recently scored 27 points in a Canadian all-star game.
Butler and Western Michigan were also in the mix, but Ezeagu revealed he was down to UTEP, USC and WMU ahead of his official announcement. This past season he averaged 11.4 points, and 10.4 rebounds per game,
How he could fit in Terry’s projected system
- Rim protector
- Defensive specialist
- Inside scoring
- Put back artist
I would like to thank everyone who helped me in this decision making process. I would also like to thank the coaches and organizations in general that have helped me get to this stage in my career. These include Dwayne Washington and Uplay for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talents, my coaches in the past like Coach Bright, and many others. Also, I'd like to thank the individuals that have guided me on my path up to this point, like Jordan Boswell, among many others. Thank you to my trainers that have helped me get to playing at this level of basketball from the raw player I was just a few years ago. Coach Eddie was at the front of the pack, helping me become a more versatile player, and Coach Meeks for helping develop my skills. Last but not least I would like to thank the GTA Prep program for helping me become an even better player than I ever thought I would be at this time in my life. A special shoutout goes to Coach David Cooper for training me everyday, instilling good work habits into me and helping me to mature and evolve not only as a basketball player, but as a man.It was a difficult deciding between these 3 great programs, but I feel like I’ve found the best fit for me. I've decided to take my talents to the University of Texas El Paso! Go Miners! ⛏⛏⛏
