A few names have been thrown out around the internet over the past few weeks about UTEP’s vacant head coaching job, and according to multiple reports over the past few hours things have moved very quickly in the search for UTEP’s next head coach.
I’ve been told by sources that Fresno St head basketball coach Rodney Terry will be leaving the school and will become the next head basketball coach at UTEP

If you look at Rodney Terry’s success at Fresno State and his contract, which includes no buyout, you can see why @UTEP_MBB has him as a top candidate for their HC vacancy.

Fresno State was bounced from the Mountain West Tournament on Thursday by San Diego State, wrapping up his 7th season at Fresno with his third straight 20-win season.
Terry and the Bulldogs were coming off of an NCAA Tournament appearance, and a NIT appearance heading into this season in where they finished 21-11 overall.
The Fresno Bee has been all over this story all week penning out some interesting takes on Terry leaving Fresno’s program. One piece asking why UTEP? Then another piece was basically a bashing on Terry and the El Paso Times report from earlier this week
The response (if you will) from the Bee is a jab at UTEP beat writer Bill Knight who first reported that Terry was contacted among other candidates earlier this week.
We’ll keep an eye on things as they move along.....
