Old Dominion led the entire game, it was ugly, and UTEP never gave themselves a chance Saturday night in Virginia.
UTEP trailed 12-2 early, started 1-for-9 from the field, finished the game shooting 27.5 percent from the field and fell to 3-11 in C-USA play. Simply put, UTEP failed to show up, and Old Dominion wasn’t showing any mercy.
The Monarchs knocked down 12 three pointers and Randy Haynes led all scorers with 24 points and six assists.
Paul Thomas was the only double figure scorer for UTEP with 10 points and six rebounds. UTEP went 2-for-19 from 3-point land and turned it over 17 times leading to 20 ODU points off turnovers.
The final score ended up being the largest margin of the game, and ties the second biggest losing margin in school history. The 33 points is the lowest scoring mark UTEP has posted since the shot era began.
UTEP returns home for their final two home games of the regular season net week.
