Dana Dimel struck gold in his first weekend hosting recruits as JUCO targets Kai Locksley and Justin Garrett have announced their commitments to UTEP’s class of 2018.
BLESSED, I PRAYED FOR THIS, GREW UP IN POVERTY, BECAME HOMELESS, YET I NEVER GAVE UP ON MY DREAMS, NEVER QUESTIONED GOD’S PLAN, I AM STILL LOST FOR WORDS... #NEVERLOSEFAITH #RIPJESSICA pic.twitter.com/WyVCSza35Y— 5 (@JUSTINMGARRETT) January 16, 2018
Both Garrett and Locksley were among six JUCO prospects who visited El Paso this past weekend.
Locksley, a former Texas Longhorn, is the 4th best JUCO dual-threat QB according to 247Sports after running for 20 touchdowns, and throwing 20 touchdowns this past season. The 6’4, 205 signal caller was a four-star prospect coming out of high school and was the NJCAA offensive player of the year last season.
Garrett, 6’1, 190 pounds, caught 38 passes last season for 592 yards, and five touchdowns at Cerritos College. The California native notched a career high 153 yards receiving in the season finale this past fall.
UTEP coaches celebrated their new JUCO weapons on Twitter.
Both are expected to be announced as mid-year transfers sometime this week, giving UTEP four commits for the class of 2018.
