No major injuries or depth chart shakeups came out of the Oklahoma game, but UTEP will be without their defensive leader to open C-USA play Saturday against the Rice Owls.
Alvin Jones who was slapped with a targeting ejection in the second half against Oklahoma will miss the first half of the Rice game.
Jamar Smith will start at middle linebacker, and Treyvon Hughes will also be a backup there at middle linebacker according to Head Coach Sean Kugler.
UTEP played a high number of players on the defensive side, and with the struggles against OU Sean Kugler said that number could dwindle down as UTEP looks for consistent producers on the defensive side.
Some positives despite the Sooner shredding came from freshmen Trace Mascorro, and Dedrick Simpson who are both listed as starters in this week’s depth chart.
There are no major or notable changes on the offensive side of the ball, including the running back and tight end rotations.
