Some major injuries shake up UTEP’s depth chart in some important places ahead of the week three matchup with Arizona.
Starting right tackle Greg Long has a broken leg, and will be out for the season. Jayson VanHook and Alan Busey are both nursing shoulder injuries that will keep them out of the rest of the season.
Reserve corner Khalil Rashaad-Brown has an Achilles injury that will also keep him out for the remainder of the season.
The final determination on Ryan Metz is still unknown, but Sean Kugler said Zack Greenlee would be the starter, but would not rule out using Mark Torrez and Greenlee in a rotation if Metz is not cleared which looks highly unlikely with a short week.
Derron Gatewood was also injured during the Rice game, prompting Tanner Stallings to take over center duties this week. Jerrod Brooks slides in at starting right tackle this week in place of Long.
Defensively, Dylan Parsee and Treyvon Hughes will man the SAM linebacker spot, but the defensive depth chart pretty much remains the same.
No other major changes outside of the injured spots, but expect both Josh Fields, and Ronald Awatt to see increased carries against Arizona per Sean Kugler.
UTEP and Arizona kickoff Friday night in the Sun Bowl at 8 p.m.
