Tim Floyd addressed the media Friday afternoon as UTEP prepares for their Costa Rica trip with some upcoming practices in El Paso.
The UTEP head man also said he does not expect JUCO signee Roderick Williams to be on the roster later this month for the exhibition tour, nor for the 2017-18 season.
Floyd said Williams arrived in El Paso for the Summer II school session in July, and Floyd even had breakfast with Williams and his mother when they arrived from their drive from California.
He was notified by Williams’ roommate a few days after that breakfast that Williams left a note on his pillow stating he was heading back to Los Angeles to finish his college career after some prayer.
The void is a blow to UTEP’s depth, but Tim Floyd appears very content with his roster which features depth at nearly every spot compared to departures of the past couple of seasons.
Floyd also seemed energized with his new UTEP group as the Miners try to build some chemistry over the next week before heading to Costa Rica.
Here is Floyd’s nearly 20 minute media meet up, and along with interviews with Jake Flaggert, Evan Gilyard, and Kobe Magee.
