UTEP Basketball: Pre-Costa Rica exhibition set for August 12th

NCAA Basketball: UAB at Texas-El Paso Ivan Pierre Aguirre-USA TODAY Sports

Back when UTEP first announced their highly anticipated Costa Rica exhibition tour, Tim Floyd said he would have an open to the public exhibition, and announced the exact and pretty cool details via the El Paso Times.

Floyd told Bill Knight that on Saturday, August 12th, at 5:30 p.m. the team will hold an intrasquad exhibition with the returners facing the newcomers. There will also be a dunk contest, and 3-point shootout before the exhibition, followed up by an autograph session with the players.

Admission will be $10 in an effort to fundraise for the Costa Rica trip, and Floyd is also giving fans a unique and awesome opportunity to set the starting lineup for the first game in Costa Rica.

“Since our games in Costa Rica don't count, we've decided we will give out ballots and let our fans vote to pick the starting lineup in the first game. They can fill them out and drop them in a ballot box on the way out." Floyd told the El Paso Times.

The team will play three games in Costa Rica, and also be allowed to have 10 important practice sessions before the trip.

Mark your calendars!
