Once Tirus Smith was able to dunk, and hang around with the more advanced athletic kids when he was a freshman in high school, Smith knew he could play at the D-1 level.
The former Ole Miss commit has arrived on the UTEP campus with defense and rebounding on his mind to help out an area of need in the UTEP frontcourt.
Smith is a legit 6’9, 230 pounds, and averaged 14.2 points, and 9.5 rebounds last season for Petal high School in Petal, Mississippi.
He racked up 10 double-doubles, and posted a season highs of 30 points, and 19 rebounds during his senior season.
UTEP desperately needed some depth help at the power forward spot, and Smith looks to be a major force in helping in that department.
