Barrett played in 31 games last season as a freshman, scoring a career high 25 points on seven made 3-pointers on the road against New Mexico.
The Lancaster, Texas native struggled with his shot during C-USA play, but was a key part defensively off the bench. His outburst at New Mexico netted him C-USA Freshman of the Week honors.
Prior to UTEP he was back-to-back Texas Class 5A state titles, and is one of the winngest players to play high school basketball in state history.
Additionally, sources tell Miner Rush that walk-on forward Ivan Venegas will also transfer at the end of the school year which ends this week.
