Just when you thought the class of 2017 was signed, sealed, and delivered, a late Prop 48 commit came in Thursday morning according to Verbal Commits.
2017 Christian Life (TX) F Taj Royster has committed to UTEP. https://t.co/4VeHzGo8Eg
— Verbal Commits (@VerbalCommits) April 20, 2017
Royster is a 6'8, 245 power forward from Houston, Texas, and attended the Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy.
MaxPreps shows Royster played 22 games last season averaging 12.8 points per game, and 4.3 rebounds last season. Royster's rebounding numbers maybe averaged incorrectly as some game totals are missing on his game logs.
There are five double-doubles listed from last season, including three games where Royster posted three games with 15 boards or more.
Verbal Commits has him as a composite two-star prospect, and his last offer came back in 2015 from Southern
Sources are indicating Royster will sit out this coming season, and take the Prop 48 route which has been a successful route for Tim Floyd.
How Royster will fit down the road
- 6'8, 245 pounds (those type of kids don't grow on trees)
- Rebounding
- Toughness
- Physical edge
- Inside scoring
- Inside defensive presence
