Tim Floyd hit the Chicago area once again for his latest commit, nabbing 6'10, 3-star center Joey St. Pierre after his visit to El Paso over the weekend.
I am blessed to announce I will be continuing my academic and basketball career for coach Floyd at the university of Texas at El Paso!! ⛏ pic.twitter.com/136xqDUhIV

St. Pierre is from Richmond, Illinois, and is rated as a 3-star recruit by both 247Sports, and ESPN. ESPN ranks him as the 11th best player in the state, while 247Sports ranks him as the 12th best player.
New Mexico, and UIC (Chicago) have offered the two-sport athlete, who posted a string of 20-point scoring games recently, and was considered as the top available big men in Illinois by local Chicago online recruiting publications.
An interesting health note on St. Pierre. The Northwest Herald reported he has been battling pain in his back due to scar tissue that is blocking his kidneys. Playing his senior season of high school ball is not worsening the condition, but he will have surgery after the season to relieve the pain.
UTEP now has five players committed or signed for the class of 2017, along with Trey Wade, and Isiah Osbourne on campus who UTEP is also counting in the class of 2017.
