This week, Tim Floyd and his staff have handed out seven offers with an emphasis on recruiting the Chicago area as the start of a live recruiting period began September 9th.
One of the highest rated offers went out to 6'3, 2018 Chicago guard Ayo Dosunmu who is a consensus four-star prospect, and is rated as the top player in Illinois for the class of 2018 by 247Sports.
UTEP offered another Chicago guard, 2017 point guard Evan Gilyard who is an ESPN 3-star prospect and hails from the same Chicago high school Derrick Rose went to at Simeon Career Academy. Gilyard holds an offer from UAB, and Rhode Island.
Another Chicago point guard, Kaleb Thornton who is a 2018 prospect from Bolingbrook High School had a UTEP offer extended and was also offered by Chicago State in July. Thornton's 2019 teammate and point guard Joseph Yesufu also picked up a UTEP offer this week.
UTEP didn’t leave Chicago without offering some size as 6'9 2018 forward Tamell Pearson was UTEP's latest offer last night.
The coaching staff also continued their pursuit of a 2017 point guard by offering Jarkel Joiner from Oxford, Mississippi. Joiner has offers Murray State, TCU, and Middle Tennessee State.
One of the more interesting offers this week went out to a 2018 big man.
Assane Ndiaye a 6'11 center from Senegal was also offered. Ndiaye was also offered by De Paul according to Verbal Commits and plays at the ASPIRE Basketball Academy in Arizona.
In other recruiting news, 2017 3-star big man Owen Hamilton visited UTEP over the weekend, and was also offered by Air Force.
To start the recent live recruiting period, UTEP's coaching staff has been spotted at numerous open gyms, and practices across the country this week, also visiting a number of JUCO's.
Expect more offers to come out as the current live recruiting period lasts until November 6th.
