NMSU head coach Doug Martin spoke with the media on Tuesday and said all-world running back Larry Rose III is doubtful for Saturday’s game.

Martin also said junior linebacker Derek Ibekwe is also listed as doubtful as both had sports hernia surgeries and are still recovering, but otherwise the Aggies come in “relatively healthy” for Saturday.

One of more interesting things Martin said is he thinks the Aggies can match UTEP’s physicality along the line of scrimmage, and thinks the talent level at NMSU is the best since he’s been the head man.

Martin doesn’t shy too far away when saying opening the season with UTEP, then fellow rival New Mexico isn’t ideal, but the Aggies will still be prepared.

NMSU’s quarterback situation seems to be a game time with decision with the legal issues pending over quarterback Tyler Rogers.

As far as the rivalry goes, Martin acknowledges UTEP has owned the rivalry of late, but didn’t throw any bulletin board material down the interstate as he’s respectfully done since he’s been NMSU’s head coach.
