UTEP covered some scout work in preparation for NMSU, and covered some special teams as Camp Ruidoso rolled along on Tuesday.

One of the first injury concerns of the fall is the status of sophomore running back Treyvon Hughes who was sent back to El Paso to get an MRI on his knee.

In his meet with the media, Kugler talks about the defense, and the status of the quarterback battle, and seems pleased with the Miners first scrimmage on Tuesday.

Kugler also mentions freshman Kolbi McGary who is now a safety as a freshman who stood out in Tuesday's scrimmage and will see some playing time this year.

Freshman running back Quadraiz Wadley was also mentioned by Kugler as a guy who could see some playing time, especially if Hughes has to miss sometime pending those MRI results.

He also talks about the differences along the defensive line in switching to the 3-4 and what adjustments the Miners d-lineman have made.

Nick Usher, and Alvin Jones are the defensive captains, Aaron Jones and Jerome Daniels are the offensive captains, and Jay Mattox is the Miners special teams' captain for the 2016 season.

We hear from a pair of defensive lineman in Gino Bresolin and Freshman Foster Dixson.

Dixson has been seeing first team reps at defensive end and appears to be in the mix at rush end.
