UTEP Basketball: 2016 F Chris Seeley sets up visit to El Paso

A 2016 forward will visit El Paso, plus Tim Floyd has been busy on the recruiting trail.

Fresno, California native, and 6'6 forward Chris Seeley will visit UTEP later this week which will cap off a busy couple of weeks of recruiting for Tim Floyd & Co.

Seeley has seen his stock soar over the past few weeks with offers from Washington State, TCU, and Utah, and a visit is set up with Oregon State as well.   He also reportedly has received interest from Michigan State, UTEP has been involved since early April.

The athletic forward averaged 16.1 points per game last season at Central High, and appears to be a late qualifier who is picking up major recruiting steam late in the summer.

He had a solid summer of AAU ball over the past month or so, averaging 9.9 points per game and 6.4 rebounds in 17 games on at the AAU circuit with Splash City, he also blocked six shots in those AAU runs.

His ability to finish around the rim, and versatility on defense would be a huge addition to UTEP's frontcourt, but it leaves the question of who could be out of the picture for 2016-17 from the originally signed class of 2016 which filled all of UTEP's scholarship count for the coming season.

First off on Seeley's tour of visits will be Washington State today, UTEP this weekend, then Utah on August 8th.

Tim Floyd has been handing out a number of 2017 & 2018 offers with a steady balance of needs in both the frontcourt and backcourt.   UTEP has offered 21 known prospects over the past couple of weeks, 17 of them for the class of 2017.

One of the highest rated offers has gone out to 6'9, 2017 forward Josh Pitts who recently committed to UTSA on a football scholarship, but almost immediately backed out to keep his options open.

Pitts is a 3-star basketball prospect according to Rivals and has been offered by New Mexico, and Fresno State and will see his stock in both sports rise of the next few months.  He was committed to UTSA as a tight end.

UTEP also offered a talented 2017 guard in Amorie Archibald (not sure if he's related to Tiny) who averaged 27 points, and was a second team All-State selection as a junior for Deltona Christian Academy is Florida, and also plays quarterback on the football field.

It appears the Miners are trying to land at least a pair of much needed 2017 big men with offers out to seven-footer Owen Hamillton, 6'10 center Joey St. Pierre, and 6'9 center Isaiah Chandler who are all 2017 prospects.  Every true forward that has been offered by Floyd stands 6'6 or taller.

Only one JUCO prospect has been offered during the busy evaluation period as Floyd continues to try to land high school prospects.

Here is the complete offer list of the offers that have been reported.
