Former ULM assistant, and one time UTEP staffer J.A. Anglin was officially announced as UTEP's new assistant coach on Friday.

His official title is Director of Scouting and Player Personnel, a newly created position on UTEP's coaching staff.

Anglin spent the previous three years as an assistant coach at the University of Louisiana Monroe.  He helped the Warhawks to 44 victories over the last two seasons.  Earlier this year, Anglin was one of 30 assistant coaches across the country named to the Under Armour 30-under-30 Team.  The team is composed of the nation's brightest assistant coaches under the age of 30.

"I really enjoyed my first two years in El Paso," Anglin said.  "I'm excited to be back in the Sun City and excited about the future of the UTEP basketball program."

Anglin was previously at UTEP from 2011-2013 as the Assistant Director of Basketball Operations which gave him a jump start on his promising coaching career.

A Shreveport, La. native, Anglin played for two seasons at Northwestern State (2005-06, 2007-08) and two at LSU Shreveport (2008-10), where he helped the teams to a combined 91 victories and three conference titles.  Anglin was on the 2005-06 Northwestern State squad that upset third-seeded Iowa in the NCAA Tournament.

Sources and from UTEP basketball player Gabe McCulley himself has said Floyd has reached out to him, possibly to fill the vacant Director of Basketball Operations position  which will be announced later this summer
