UTEP Football: Kugler offers a handful of 2017 prospects

After the evaluation period, UTEP will now start to hand out 2017 offers.

UTEP's football coaches spent an extra week on the road during the recent recruiting evaluation period, and after some early war room deliberations UTEP handed out a few offers on Tuesday.

One of the major 2017 offers handed out Tuesday went to talented 3-star wide receiver Warren Jackson.  The 6'5 Jackson from Mission Hills, California has offers from New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Colorado State.

UTEP also offered Jackson's teammate at Bishop Alemany and 3-star inside linebacker Lamin Touray who has offers from San Diego State, Hawaii, Nevada, and UNLV.

The coaching staff also offered a few Texas standouts.

District 15-2A's Defensive Player of the Year Kobie Herring from South Texas powerhouse Refugio reported a UTEP offer as well. Another inside linebacker at 6-foot, 200 pounds,  Herring posted a ridiculous 215 tackles last season in his junior year and led Refugio to the Class 2A Division I State Championship game.

Outside linebacker D'Torain Smith from Tatum, Texas was another prospect to be offered on Tuesday. The 6'3, 225 pound Smith has an offer from Air Force, and Lamar and is considering a rising prospect in the talent heavy East Texas region.

2017 cornerback Hanif Muhammad from League City, Texas also picked up a UTEP offer last night.

UTEP also offered JUCO safety/nickel Ramon Patton last week who is entering his sophomore year at Jones County Junior College in Mississippi.

Brent Pease also offered his second quarterback for the 2017 class is Austin area quarterback Alex Fernandes who unofficially visited UTEP during spring practices.
