UTEP Athletic Director Bob Stull confirmed to KTSM TV in El Paso that UAB, and Birmingham have won the bid for the 2017 C-USA Tournament after multiple reports indicated Birmingham won the vote earlier today.
While league president approval is still needed in June, the location factor rightfully won out between Birmingham's and El Paso's bids to host in 2017 according to Stull. Stull also told KTSM the conference praised El Paso for a job-well-done in 2014.
KTSM also reports that El Paso, and Birmingham are the only two C-USA cities who have made bids on the next three conference tournaments.
I can confirm the 2017 Conference USA basketball tournaments will be held in Birmingham. Member ADs voted in favor of city this morning.
