Tim Floyd usually announces signees all at once, and with Kris Clyburn on an official visit UTEP probably won't announce anything until the class is finalized pending a commitment to fill the other available scholarship.
Silva averaged 18.6 points, and 10.8 rebounds this past season at Diamond Ranch High School, leading the Panthers to CIF Southern Section Class 3AA state title. At 7'1, 250 pounds, Silva was named first-team all-Hacienda League and lCIF-SS Division 3AA Player of the Year.
"I'm excited to be apart of the UTEP Family." Silva said. "I can't wait to make my way down to El Paso and be apart of the tradition that surrounds the program."
He replaces the scholarship spot left behind from Christian Romine who transferred a few weeks ago, and gives Floyd some length to develop. Silva is also an immediate qualifier boasting a 4.5 GPA.
He was offered by Floyd & Co. back in late March, with the UTEP offer being his lone D-1 offer.
