UTEP Freshman forward Terry Winn was named to Conference USA's All-Freshman team as the league announced their specialty awards today.
Winn is averaging 9.8 points, and 6.2 rebounds per game this season, he leads all C-USA freshman in rebounding, and is second in field goal percentage among all freshman.
He had a strong finish to the regular season, and averaged 6.6 rebounds, and shot 56.6 percent from the field during conference play.
Over the last five games, Winn is 22-for-29 from the field (.759 percent) and made 13 straight shots at one point. He has made 45-of-68 shots (66.2 percent) over the last 10 games. He has scored in double figures in seven of the last 10 games.
In the Feb. 20 win over LA Tech, Winn became one of 12 players in school history to make at least seven field goals in a game without a miss. He was 7-for-7 from the floor.
The 6'6 Louisiana Native also had seven games with eight or more rebounds in C-USA play. His 13 rebounds at Middle Tennessee were the most by a Miner player this season.
Winn and UTEP will face FIU in the second round of the C-USA Tournament on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Mountain Time.
