Dominic Artis has flirted with a trio of near triple doubles this season, and today he was recognized for his work in the classroom as he was named to the C-USA All-Academic Team the C-USA league office announced.
A native of the San Francisco Bay Area in California, Artis is one of four Miners averaging double-figures in scoring with 11.7 points per game.
He is also the team's top playmaker with 5.1 assists per contest to rank fourth in Conference USA. He flirted with triple-double performances three times this season, including a stat line of 23 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists against Louisiana Tech.
Artis has a 3.57 GPA as a multidisciplinary studies major.
He joins Marshall's Jon Elmore, and Austin Loop, Old Dominion's Trey Freeman, and UAB's Nick Norton as the five member C-USA All-Academic Team for the 2015-16 season.
Artis and UTEP will finish the regular season Saturday afternoon against UTSA.
