Sources: DB coach Gabe Franklin leaves UTEP for Boise State

UTEP lost a key recruiter to Boise State.

According to Football Scoop, and sources close to the program, UTEP defensive back coach and recruiting coordinator Gabe Franklin has took a job at Boise State under Bryan Harsin.

Sean Kugler announced during a Wednesday press conference that Don Yanowsky will be the new defensive backs coach, and recruiting coordinator.   Although Kugler denied any coaching openings when asked on Wednesday.

A former Boise State player, finished as the NCAA's career leader in passes defended (72), and was a three-time All-WAC selection. He rates among the Boise State and WAC all-time leaders with 18 interceptions. Additionally he started every game of his collegiate career.

He was a key recruiter for UTEP with ties to Louisiana, and Houston.
