Series Notes:

• UTEP is 1-3 all-time versus Charlotte.  The Miners broke through with their first victory over the 49ers, 73-68, last season at the Haskins Center.
• Charlotte posted victories over UTEP during the 2000-01 (94-81 in El Paso), 2001-02 (86-58 at Charlotte) and 2013-14 (73-68 in El Paso) seasons.
• The last time the teams squared off in Charlotte on Dec. 18, 2001, Jason Rabedeaux was head coach of the Miners and Bobby Lutz was head coach of the 49ers.  NCAA Tournament-bound Charlotte won 86-58.  UTEP shot 53.2 percent from the field but was outrebounded 42-22, including 17-3 on the offensive glass.  The Miners also shot 2-for-11 from the line.
