UTEP Women’s Basketball: Latest Bracketology Projections

After the Southern road sweep last weekend, an at-large bid is starting to become a reality.

With five wins in a row, and a key late season road sweep last weekend.  Things are looking like Keitha Adams' dancing shoes may need some shining.

The Miners 23-2 record has them with a #25 RPI slot, and are still receiving top-25 votes in the AP and Coaches Poll's.

UTEP's at-large resume isn't very appealing to folks outside of El Paso at the moment with only four top-100 wins against Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky, UC Riverside, and NMSU.  Two of those wins are on the road, but will it be enough for an at-large?

Here are the latest projections.

College Sports Madness

#7 Florida
#10 UTEP
#2 Oregon State
#15 NMSU

ESPN

Los Angeles
3UCLA

RealTimeRPI.com

#8 South Florida
#9 UTEP

Most of the current projections have UTEP as a 9-11 seed with three regular season games, and possibly three C-USA tournament games remaining.

At this point, it appears UTEP could get a NCAA snub if the Miners are knocked out before the C-USA tournament championship game based off of any loss outside the top-100 considered a major slip up.

If UTEP wins out to finish off the regular season, and makes it to the C-USA Tournament Championship game, you would have to think the chance for an at-large bid will be pretty high as the next couple of weeks unfold.

The eye test is something most of the poll voters, and committee members will not get to see up until the conference tournament.  But if you have seen the UTEP women's basketball team this year, you know this a surefire tournament team that can win a game or two in mid-March.
