The finishing touches on the class of 2016 will be geared towards shoring up future depth on the defensive side of the ball, and a fourth straight defensive commit confirmed their commitment today.
6'3, 240 pound linebacker Dedrick Simpson from Houston, Texas is UTEP's 22nd verbal commit for the class of 2016.

Simpson officially visited UTEP this past weekend, and gives UTEP four linebackers with a goal of five for 2016 set by Sean Kugler.
He earned back-to-back District 22-6A First Team Honors as a linebacker in 2014, and 2015 for Dobie High School in the Houston Area.
Simpson can provide plenty of versatile depth in the coming years, as he can moved from a standing outside linebacker, to a nine-technique down lineman providing much needed versatility for the 3-4 scheme in the coming years.
Seven out of the 12 uncommitted visitors who visited the UTEP campus last week have verbally committed wrapping up one of the biggest recruiting weekends in the Sean Kugler era.
