Both Will Hernandez, and Aaron Jones had All-American type seasons, and were recognized as Associated Press All-Americans for the 2016 season.
Hernandez was named to the AP All-American second team as a guard after grading out as one of the top guards in the country by Pro Football Focus. He was also a first team All-C-USA honoree, and is UTEP's top NFL prospect.
He has the top grade among the nation’s guards at 93.7, including a 90.8 pass-blocking grade and a 91.1 mark in the run game. Hernandez also did not allow a sack or QB hurry this season, and was named to Pro Football Focus' All-American first team.
Jones was named to the third team on the AP's All-American list. The El Paso native ran for a school record 1,773 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, he also caught 28 passes for 233 yards, and three touchdowns.
Of course, Hernandez, a three-year starter, paved the way for Jones to break UTEP's all-time rushing records, as both will receive NFL Draft grades for the upcoming draft.
Jones and Hernandez become UTEP's 15th, and 16th AP All-Americans in school history, and the first UTEP players to be recognized by the AP since Johnnie Lee Higgins back in 2006.
