Aaron Jones named C-USA Player of the Week

Aaron Jones was named Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

The running back led the Miners to a 52-24 victory over the North Texas on Saturday. The junior ran for a career-best 301 yards, which rates fourth nationally and first in C-USA this season. Jones is the eighth player in Conference USA history to go over 300 yards. Jones’s 301 yards matches East Carolina’s Chris Johnson [301 yards in 2007] and is tied for the sixth-best single-game performance in C-USA history. The junior also had career-high four touchdowns, including a season-long 83-yard score in the first quarter.

Jones finished the season with the single-season school-record 1,773 rushing yards. It’s also the fifth-best single-season performance in C-USA history and puts him in the No. 3 spot nationally.
