Coming into Saturday’s game, Aaron Jones needed just 123 yards rushing to break UTEP’s single season rushing record.
It took Jones just 10 carries to rush for 127 yards, including an 83-yard touchdown sprint that put UTEP ahead 10-3 late in the first quarter against North Texas on Saturday.
Jones is already UTEP’s all-time leading rusher, and now has 18 touchdowns and counting this season.
Running for 100 yards in the opening quarter makes it the sixth time in his career Jones has ran for 100 yards in a single quarter in his career.
Jones eclipsed the 1,600 yard mark one play after setting the single season record with a 48-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
