Aaron Jones needed just 68 rushing yards coming into today’s game to break UTEP’s all-time rushing record, and a nine yard rush in the second quarter against FAU pushed him over the long standing mark.
Jones passes John Harvey’s record of 3,576 yards which was set back in 1988. UTEP head coach Sean Kugler was an offensive lineman who helped Harvey set those numbers.
He’s also just the third UTEP running back to reach 3,000 career rushing yards, Jones is also the third Miner ever, and first since Howard Jackson to produce multiple 1,000- yard seasons during a career
The junior came into this week ranked seventh in the nation in rushing yards, and is Conference USA’s leading rusher.
With a two games left, and a year of eligibility, Jones is now 11th on the C-USA all-time rushing list.
