UTEP Basketball: Former Ole Miss Commit Tirus Smith Visits UTEP

A former Ole Miss commit, and 2017 forward Tirus Smith is in El Paso for his official visit this weekend.

Smith, 6’8, 190 pounds, averaged 15.9 points, and 10.6 rebounds last season as a junior at Petal High School and originally committed to Ole Miss in January.

A versatile forward who can also play out on the wing, the Petal, Mississippi native had previous offers from Alabama State, New Orleans, and Alcorn State.

Joining Smith on his official visit is 2017 UTEP commit Kobe Magee who flew in from San Antonio last night as well.

UTEP has a nice collection of guard commits for 2017, but the need for a big man to fully complete the class seems to be the final piece.
