One of the main goals of UTEP's bye week was restoring full health to a couple of key players.
First off, Ryan Metz has been officially cleared and will start at quarterback this week.
Guys like Darrin Laufasa, Aaron and Alvin Jones, Jerome Daniels, Kalon Beverly, and Gino Bresolin utilized the bye week to get back to 100% for the second half of the season.
Beverly will split time at corner with emerging freshman Justin Rogers at corner, and Daniels returns to the lineup at right tackle.
Tanner Stallings remains UTEP's starting center, and Derron Gatewood will start at right guard. Also Kugler said Greg Long has solidified himself as UTEP's starting left tackle.
Sean Kugler also said on Monday he promoted two freshman to the travel roster in defensive end Christian Johnson, and center Ruben Guerra who have been on the scout team this season.
In a mid-season position change, El Paso's Brandon Moss will move back over to wide receiver after being used as a depth piece at corner back. Kugler hopes to use Moss' speed and athletic ability in the Miners passing game.
Former JUCO transfer Alex Jean-Charles is back on the depth chart for the second time this season as a rotation corner behind Nik Needham essentially replacing Moss.
Kugler also mentioned guys like Foster Dixson, and Denzel Chukwukelu as integrated pieces to help UTEP's pass rush, though they are not listed on UTEP's two deep depth chart this week.
Another new name came up as Kugler also threw freshman tight end Sani Buckingham into the could see some game times snaps club as well but is not on the depth chart.
UTEP faces UTSA on the road this Saturday at 5 p.m. Mountain Time.
