UTEP Football: Jeff Casteel will not be named UTEP's defensive coordinator

The expected hire will not be announced after all.

Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier today multiple sources implicated that former Arizona defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel had been offered and was expected to be announced as UTEP's new defensive coordinator tomorrow.

But Casteel will not be announced tomorrow as previously expected.

As of now, there is no knowledge of why or what caused the break down in the reported offer,

Football Scoop is reporting that Casteel has indeed passed on the offer to become UTEP's new defensive coordinator.

Don Yanowsky is still a new addition to the staff as we previously reported this morning.

UTEP offered no comment on the defensive coordinator hiring as of tonight, and will introduce four new coaches tomorrow at a 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time Press Conference in the Durham Center.
