UTEP basketball: 2016 PG Richardson Maitre makes official visit

UTEP is hosting Canadian point guard Richardson Maitre this weekend.

After an impressive showing in a number of high level showcases this summer, Richardson Maitre now has to make a college decision in the next step of his rapidly rising recruiting process.

Maitre is in El Paso this weekend on an official visit according to Barry Hayes from HoopStarsCanada.com

The 6'2 point guard is a do-it all type of guard with an already elite defensive ability, and represented Africa in the Adidas Nations showcase this past summer.

Before the Nations Adidas Showcase which was televised on ESPN, Maitre averaged 13.9 points per game with an 18:10 assist to turnover ratio in the Adidas Gauntlet in Atlanta, he also averaged 10 points per game in an AAU showcase in Texas back in early April.

Maitre played his high school ball last winter at West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Florida where he helped his team win the SIAA Championship, and also led his team to the finals of the inaugural Blue Grass National Championships.

He currently holds offers from NMSU, Middle Tennessee State, Sam Houston State, and will play this upcoming prep season at Jacksonville's Arlington County Day School.
