The ground work started in early May, the old turf was ripped up and disposed of at the end of July, and today it appears the Sun Bowl's new carpet is pretty much ready for a game.
UTEP Athletics' Chris Park tweeted out this photo this morning.

Gone are the blue end zones, but enter a mainly orange layout that definitely pops, and is a very nice upgrade for the program and stadium.
The big feature is the CoolPlay system that reduces surface heat and is also featured on UTEP football's practice field, and the UTEP women's soccer team's home field off Sun Bowl Drive.
Here is the chronological events of the Sun Bowl's upgrade in tweets!
