UTEP women’s basketball: 2016 standout Jakeira Ford verbally commits to UTEP

The future of the UTEP’s women’s basketball team just got a little brighter with a commitment from a high priority, and highly talented prospect.

The 2015-16 season looks to be a bounce back year for Keitha Adams and Co., although last night UTEP's future beyond this upcoming season just became a little more, well, talented.

5'11 Jakeira Ford from Memorial High in Port Arthur, Texas verbally committed to UTEP last night giving UTEP it's first commit for the class of 2016.

The versatile Ford can play pretty much every position on the floor and is entering her senior year at Memorial after three highly productive seasons at the varsity level.

Ford has scored more than 1,200 points in her three year varsity career.  The past two seasons she has averaged a points, and rebounds double-double, and has also shot over 50-percent from the field in each of the last two seasons.

Considered one of the top women's basketball prospects in Texas, the high scoring guard/forward is well known in her area and around Texas from her video game like scoring outputs, and gives UTEP a future productive star to add into the mix.

This is a big time get for the program, and even though the coaches can't specifically comment on verbal commits as we know, there is some definite excitement on Ford's commitment.

UTEP still has yet to release their 2015-16 schedule.
