In an interesting UTEP Athletics twist, UTEP basketball player Cedrick Lang is now listed on the UTEP Football roster as a defensive end.
Lang, recently finished up his fourth and final year on the hardwood, and there had been talk and hints from Tim Floyd earlier this year of Ced possibly joining the football team that just became fully true.
Standing 6'9, and 260 pounds, Lang has a chance at being one of the few and prized athletes in the NFL roster building process who make the switch from the hardwood to the gridiron late in their college careers.
Lang will wear #93 according to the roster.
"We're excited having him on the team," coach Sean Kugler told the El Paso Times. "In basketball season, I enjoyed how he hustled, how he competed, and he has a good skill set for football. We're going to take it with baby steps. We're not going to throw too much at him at one time."
The South Dakota native played football back in high school, and greatly improved his foot work and agility prior to this past basketball season.
