The 2015 C-USA Defensive Player of the Year will participate in the Portsmouth Invitational this weekend in hopes of raising his already impressive NBA Draft stock.

Julian Washburn’s first game in the four day 12-team tournament is Thursday night at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.

The tournament showcases the 64 best college basketball seniors in front of representatives from every NBA team, and also scouts from numerous international leagues.

Ranking first in school history in minutes, fourth in field goals, and six in scoring, Washburn becomes the seventh Miner to participate in the tournament. Miner great Marlon Maxey was named tournament MVP in 1992.

Two other C-USA players, Charlotte’s Pierria Henry, and T.J. Price will also be showcased.

Washburn will be on the K&D Rounds Landscaping Roster alongside Iowa State’s Bryce Dejean-Jones, and Oklahoma’s TaShawn Thomas.

Their first matchup on Thursday is against Portsmouth Partnership which features Oklahoma State’s Michael Cobbins, Norte Dame’s Pat Connaughton, and Stanford’s Stefan Nastic.

The tournament starts Wednesday with the championship game slated for Saturday.
