UTEP football: Former BYU defensive back transfers to UTEP amid a slew of roster updates

Right when we broke down the 2015 roster, it changed a bit.

Ivan Pierre Aguirre-USA TODAY Sports

Some number changes, 2014 gray-shirts, a new wide receiver, and defensive back transfer Trent Trammell who spent time at BYU showed up on the updated 2015 UTEP football roster.

Trammell did not record any stats at BYU after tearing his ACL during spring ball of his transfer year from the City College of San Francisco in 2013.   He did not see action last year as red-shirt junior according BYU's official 2014 stats.

UTEP will be in need of some immediate help in the secondary and Trammell will definitely help on the outside at corner, and is listed as a senior on the UTEP roster.

Before the unfortunate injury, Trammell had an impressive two year career at City College of San Francisco where he was ranked number one in the nation by JCfootball.com with 19 pass break ups in 2011.

The Oakland, California area native stands 6'0, 200 pounds and was also apart of a 22-2 run during his two JUCO years adding five interceptions and was also recruited by UTEP out of JUCO but signed with BYU in 2012.

Also on the updated roster is 6'2 sophomore wide receiver Dylan Kittrell from Carrollton, Texas via Bethany College.

Keeping with the trend of further solidifying the local El Paso pipeline Kugler also added former Franklin High quarterback Cameron Candelaria.

The 6'3, 210 pound dual threat threw for 4,326 yards, 55 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions in his two years as a starter for Franklin in 2012 and 2013.  He also ran for over 400 yards in each of those of two seasons.

UTSA, Houston, and UTEP were recruiting him out of high school, but an injury that limited him to only eight games his senior year may have hurt his FBS stock as he signed and red-shirted at Colorado Mesa University in 2014.

Three 2014 signees who took gray-shirts apart of the 2014 recruiting class are also on the 2015 roster.

Wide receiver and El Paso native Warren Redix, running back Treyvon Hughes, and linebacker Stephen Forester are now listed on the roster.  Forester was originally recruited as a defensive end, but will now apparently help boost the linebacker depth.

Not on the roster is former Andress star Eddie Sinegal, although quarterback Guillermo Serrano from El Paso is back on the roster meaning he may have been granted an extra year giving UTEP seven quarterbacks in 2015.

A few notable jersey number changes also dotted the 2015 roster.

Freshman defensive back Mookie Carlile will now wear #13, senior special teams ace, and defensive back LaQuintus Dowell will switch from #32 to #7, while M.J. McFarland will don #11 this season.

The Laufasa brothers also changed digits, Darrin will now wear #15, and Jeremiah will wear #4.

Freshman quarterback Hunter McEachern will wear #18, reserve linebacker Nathan Stukes has switched to #17 and JUCO transfers Elliott Oldham will wear #1, Terry Juniel #2, Demarcus Womack #98, and Sky Logan is now listed as a sophomore and will wear #56.

Jersey numbers for the class of 2015, including the 2014 gray-shirts are listed in the newly updated roster below.
