UTEP Women’s Basketball: Miners pick up two votes in AP Top-25 poll

UTEP’s 8-0 start picks up some national recognition.

UTEP remains the lone unbeaten C-USA women's basketball team, also leading the league in scoring margin, and today picked up two votes in the latest AP Top-25 poll.

The Miners set a program record for field goal percentage defense last night in a 86-32 win over D-II UTPB, holding the Falcons to 16.7 percent shooting from the field.

For the second time in three years UTEP has started off a season 7-0, and have only trailed in the second half of games this year for only 24 seconds.

Jenzel Nash, Starr Breedlove, and Cameasha Turner all rank in the top-20 in the conference in scoring, with Breedlove ranking third in the league in assists.

UTEP faces their toughest challenges this weekend in the Beach Classic with a matchup with Long Beach State on Friday, then the Miners face one of the top rebounding teams in Women's College Basketball in UNLV on Saturday.
