UTEP football: 2016 UTEP commits selected for Greater El Paso Football Showcase

You can see all the future Miners on their future home field December 19th.

Five UTEP commits, and a number of 2016 local targets were selected to play in the 24th annual Greater El Paso Football Showcase on December 19th in the Sun Bowl.

Eastwood's Richie Rodriguez, Chapin's Brannon Bullitt, Parkland's Christian Johnson, Americas's Eric Foster, and Montwood's Bobby DeHaro were all selected as the city's top seniors.

Rodriguez (WR), Bullitt (WR), and Johnson (DE) will play on the West team, while Foster (QB) and DeHaro (OL) will play on the East team.

Other UTEP targets like Andress safety Tristan Cooper, and Eastwood quarterback Mark Torrez will also suit up in the all-star game for the West squad.

UTEP had some local visits at the LA Tech game including El Dorado running back Sergio Gonzalez who led the city in rushing yards, and Socorro defensive end Jacob Arellano will also participate in the All-Star game.

Kickoff is slated for 1:05 p.m. on December 19th.  The coaches this year are Phil Hatch for the East squad, while Don Brooks will coach the West squad.

Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 on game day. Tickets will be available after Dec. 1 at all First National Bank branches and all area high schools. Children 6 and younger get in free.

The Fifth Annual Greater El Paso Football Showcase Combine will take place from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Socorro Student Activities Complex. The event is free to all participants. Players need to register by Dec. 1 at gepfs.com.
