Former UTEP running back David Hamm who was dismissed from the team in the 2015 off-season was arrested today in Louisiana on sexual assault charges that allegedly happened on the UTEP campus according to a release from the El Paso Sheriff's Office.
According to release the alleged incident occurred in May of 2015, but El Paso County Criminal Court Records show the actual charges weren't filed until late October. Hamm is being held at the Calcasieu Parish jail in Lake Charles awaiting extradition to El Paso, officials said.
The 20-year old Hamm played in 11 games last year for UTEP as a reserve running back, gaining 96 yards on 14 carries. He was expected to play a bigger role this year, but was his named was removed from the official roster over the summer, and Sean Kugler confirmed his dismissal in early August.
Hamm enrolled at McNeese State this school year and has appeared in nine games for the Cowboys this season. His current school has yet to release a statement on the situation.
