LA Tech jumped out to an early 22-10 lead in the first ten minutes of the game as the Lady Techsters dusted UTEP 90-72 Thursday evening in Ruston.
Keila Shelton scored a game high 28 points, and grabbed ten rebounds to lead three double digit scorers for LA Tech.
The Miners had four score in double figures with Sparkle Taylor leading the way with 15 points, Cameasha Turner added 14 points and eight rebounds, Lawana Kennedy added 11 points and seven rebounds, while Lulu McKinney scored 11 points adding three assists and three rebounds.
LA Tech dominated the boards with 49-37 edge, they combined 30 defensive rebounds, and 19 offensive boards to the cause, they were also 7/12 from behind the three point line.
The Miners shot 43.8 percent from the field, but turned it over 18 times, and trailed 71-43 with 10:22 to go in the second half.
UTEP now heads to Hattiesburg to face Southern Miss. Saturday afternoon, the Miners drop to 7-5 overall, and 2-1 in C-USA play.
