An emergency oral surgery will keep UTEP head coach Keith Adams off the sidelines for UTEP's upcoming road trip this weekend.

For the first time in her 25 year head coaching career, Keitha Adams will miss a game.

In an official release from UTEP, the winningest coach in UTEP women's basketball history will undergo emergency oral surgery, though will recover in time for the Miners next homestand.

Assistants Ewa Laskowska and Bill Damuth will now run the show as UTEP travels to face Louisiana Tech for a Thursday evening bout, then they will head to Hattiesburg to face C-USA rival Southern Miss on Saturday.

"This is going to be the hardest seat that I'm going to be sitting in," Adams said. "It's going to be extremely hard not being there but I have a great staff. I'm very confident that the two of them will do a good job, and I trust the ladies to go play hard."

Adams received a six year extension after last year's WNIT run, and this year's team has won four straight going 7-4 overall, and 2-0 in C-USA play so far.

We at the Rush wish coach Adams a safe, and speedy recovery!
