UTEP's Spanish radio announcer Harry Ruiz reported this afternoon that Vince Hunter has a knee sprain and appears to be a game time decision Thursday night for the Western Kentucky game.
Hunter is still averaging a double-double with 16.1 points and 10 rebounds per game, and apparently tweaked the knee in the final minute of the UTSA game where he scored nine points and added seven rebounds in 29 minutes.
Ruiz sent off this series of tweets as Floyd spoke in his weekly media addressing as the team heads to Bowling Green, Kentucky this afternoon.
Tim Floyd: "Vince Hunter tweaked a knee (left). We got 2 different MRI's and right now he has a sprain" #UTEPBasketball

Tim Floyd on if Vince Hunter will play @ WKU: "That's completely up to Vince and his pain tolerance" #UTEPBasketball pic.twitter.com/zvT8AmHi8s

Floyd said that they had two MRI's done as a precaution with doctors determining it was a sprain, and Floyd said Hunter is "pain tolerant to play."
This could be a tough break for the Miners who could really do some damage in the standings with a sweep this weekend, though could possibly be without arguably their best rebounder and player.
UTEP has been relatively healthy over the past few seasons with no major injuries, (knocks on wood). We will continue to monitor any new information and Harry Ruiz's twitter account as he travels with the team.
