In their report they mention UTEP has been in the fact gathering stage the past 24 hours on the former highly touted quarterback.
On Wednesday Brewer notified Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez that he intended to transfer and was granted a release.
Brewer transferred from Texas to Arizona in 2013, and after sitting out a year he was beaten out by freshman Anu Solomon at Arizona this season and did not throw a pass in a game, but appeared in two games this season.
He originally signed with Mack Brown and Texas in 2012 after being ranked as the fourth best pro-style quarterback and named to the 2011 Elite 11 out of Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona where he won three state titles.
His time at Texas was shadowed by an arrest for being a minor in possession of alcohol and public intoxication in 2013, and would lose reps the following spring and never surfaced near the top of the Texas depth chart.
According the report, San Diego State is also gathering facts, and no UTEP sources have confirmed this to anyone at MinerRush about any contact or an offer.
Brewer is set to graduate this spring, and will be immediately eligible with two years of eligibility.
