Thomas is a 6'9 combo forward who also had offers from Houston, Memphis, and Texas Tech. He made UTEP his college home Wednesday evening after his official visit to the Sun City last weekend. He averaged 19 points, and 10 rebounds last year as a high school junior. Thomas saw his stock soar with a strong physical growth, and AAU showing over the summer.
Paul Thomas on his commitment to UTEP:
"What triggered my commitment was Coach Floyd and his history of getting kids better, I felt there was no better place for me. And the campus and fans are crazy for basketball"
Speaking to his father, the Thomas' were sold on the style, and system Tim Floyd instills here at UTEP, to me Thomas could develop into a walking double-double almost immediately. Thomas comes from a more than solid family setting, and is a very, very high character guy who almost certainly could turn into an instant fan favorite with his personality and above the rim style of play.
From the videos below, Thomas has a Vince Hunter like mold, as his handles and ability to finish around the rim scream four star to even five star prospect. Thomas' high school season will start on November 10th for Summer Creek High School in Houston.
@PaulTooTall41 congrats on the commit fam! #picksup

HUGE pickup for the Miners who are also drawing high interest from 2015 point guard prospect Jahshire Hardnett.
Hardnett is considered one of the best 2015 prospects out of Mississippi, he averaged 22.2 points last year, and has transferred to Arlington Country Day School in Jacksonville, Fla. for his senior year.
