High school senior-to-be Paul Thomas will take a visit to the UTEP campus on September 26th and 27th as the first bit of news comes to light from the first week of a live recruiting period that started earlier in the week.
Thomas and his family hosted Coach Floyd Wednesday during a home visit, and the meeting in Houston apparently went really well as Thomas will take an official visit to the UTEP campus, Thomas will be in Lubbock this week visiting Texas Tech.
UTEP could very well be a top choice as sources told me the visit really well, and he really likes the style of play Coach Floyd instills.
Memphis, Rice, Tulsa, and Texas Tech have all offered the four-star forward, though UTEP could very well be in the mix for his much needed services in 2015, stay tuned.....
The Miners have also offered 2015 eligible 6'8 JUCO combo forward/guard Derrien King from the Los Angeles area.
Schools who have also offered King are Utah State, Washington State, Cal State Fullerton, Nevada and Cal State Bakersfield. He will be freshman this year at Santa Monica College, and it looks like he will be a one and done at the JUCO level.
He averaged 23.6 points per game junior year of high school earning All-CIF honors, he played for a prep school called Middlebrooks Academy last year.
Another prototypical Floyd combo guard/forward who has very solid ball handling skills, and can score from the perimeter making him a possible elite scorer from the wing position.
King has reportedly said he would make a decision during the early signing period.
